The bratwurst is undisputedly the Germans’ favorite grilled food. The meat specialty is greasy and has a lot of calories. But it also contains vitamins and minerals.
Bratwurst: Different calories depending on the type of meat
Statistically, every German eats three kilograms of bratwurst every year. The pork sausage is particularly popular – this is also the variant with the highest number of calories.
- Pork: The pork sausage has a calorific value of 290 calories per 100 grams. Of this, 65 percent is fat, 30 percent is protein, and 5 percent is carbohydrate.
- Beef: The beef sausage has a slightly lower calorie content: 100 grams of the sausage has around 260 kcal.
- Veal: Calculate 270 calories per 100 grams for a veal bratwurst.
- Nuremberg bratwurst: They are considered a popular delicacy – and have 335 calories per 100 grams. The fat content is lower than that of pork. Here it is 35 grams.
- Poultry or lamb: Poultry or lamb bratwurst is a lower calorie option. With a fat content of around 15 to 20 grams, 100 grams of these sausages have a maximum of 210 kcal.
Grilled bratwurst and vitamins
The good news: in addition to fat, the bratwurst also has minerals and vitamins.
- Vitamins B1, B2, B6, and B12 as well as E are present. Vitamin E, for example, has a positive effect on your skin.
- The sausage also contains iron, fluoride, calcium, and magnesium as well as iodine and zinc.
- Of course, these ingredients do not make the sausage a healthy food – but enjoyed in moderation and in combination with an otherwise healthy diet, nothing speaks against enjoying the barbecue evening with the bratwurst.
