hearty side dish for grilled steak

Blanch the frozen beans in salted water for 4 minutes, then rinse with cold water. Remove any leathery skin from the cold beans. This is made easier by the blanching process. Cut the potatoes, onion, and bacon into small cubes. The cubes should be about the size of the beans. Finely chop the savory, garlic, and chili peppers. Fry the potatoes, onion, and bacon in a little fat over high heat until the potatoes are just tender. Then add the beans, savory, garlic, and chili peppers and fry briefly. Finally, season to taste with salt, pepper, and perhaps a squeeze of lemon and a pinch of sugar. These beans go great with grilled steak.
