  • Rapeseed oil

Instructions

Working time approx. 10 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 45 minutes; Total time approx. 55 minutes

A “broad beans with bacon” recipe like in the Bud Spencer and Terence Hill movies. Get the beans ready, we’re about to serve them!

Cut the bacon into generous pieces and fry vigorously in a little rapeseed oil. Gradually add the diced garlic, onions, and chili, if desired, stirring constantly. Whatever beans you chose, whether fresh and pre-soaked or canned, now is the perfect time to combine everything and simmer for 20-30 minutes, or until the beans are tender. Add the chopped tomatoes and juice, and season with salt and pepper. This is where this whole thing starts to differ from a simple “broad beans with bacon” recipe. There are still ways to add your own twist: with beer, maple syrup, or other ingredients. That’s almost all you need for a “heroes of the buddy pan party” buddy pan. Finally, if you only like broad beans with bacon, this is still the right place. Because the buddy pan is the best “broad beans with bacon” recipe in film history, in the style of the Bud Spencer and Terence Hill films. The Buddy Pan is a fictional movie meal that has never been confirmed to have actually happened. This is a basic recipe that can be refined and experimented with in all sorts of ways.
