Chickpea meat cakes

Ingredients for 6 servings:

  • 500 g minced beef
  • 250 g chickpeas, dry or 500 g chickpeas from the can
  • 200 g feta cheese
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 onion(s)
  • 4 cloves garlic
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp, heaped paprika powder
  • n. B. spice(s)
  • e.g. sesame, unroasted

Instructions

Working time approx. 30 minutes; Rest time approx. 12 hours; Cooking/baking time approx. 30 minutes; Total time approx. 13 hours

Meatballs with minced beef, chickpeas and feta

Soak the dry chickpeas for at least 12 hours. Drain off any excess water. Preheat the oven to 200°C and line a baking tray with baking paper. Blend the chickpeas with 1 tablespoon of oil in a blender. Blend the onion, garlic, and feta cheese in the blender until smooth. Place the chopped ingredients in a bowl along with the minced meat, salt, paprika, and any other spices to taste and knead well. With wet hands, form meatballs about the size of ping-pong balls and place them on the baking paper. Bake at 200°C (convection oven) for about 30 minutes. The cakes can also be pan-fried like meatballs. They get a delicious crust if you coat them in sesame seeds beforehand. Serve with salad, vegetables, potatoes, couscous, and the like.
