Cleaning The Granite Sink: These Tips Will Make It Shine Again

Cleaning the granite sink: Here’s how

If you want to clean a granite sink, you can use your conventional cleaning agents as usual. These include neutral detergents, vinegar or lemon cleaners, and baking soda. Always check the instructions on the selected product before cleaning.

  • For cleaning in between, simply put a few drops of neutral washing-up liquid on a sponge and use it to clean the granite sink. Then remove the soap from the surface with cold water and then rub it dry with a microfiber cloth.
  • For weekly, thorough cleaning, it is best to use vinegar or lemon cleaner. To do this, put some cleaning agent on a sponge and use it to remove smaller limescale deposits. You can get rid of larger calcifications with a mixture of vinegar, lemon, and baking soda.
  • You can avoid limescale stains in the sink by drying wet dishes immediately and putting them away instead of leaving them in the sink for a long time.
  • Pour leftover juice, tea, red wine, or coffee into the sink, and prevent unsightly discoloration by immediately rinsing it off with water and wiping it off with a little washing-up liquid on a sponge. In this way, discoloration and stains on the granite cannot occur in the first place.

Caring for granite sinks: For more shine

Granite sinks can become a bit dull after a while. With a special care treatment, however, you can help it regain its shine.

  • Simply use some cooking oil for the shine polish. Olive oil works best. After cleaning, rub down your granite sink with the oil and a dry sponge or cloth.
  • If you have caught too much oil, get rid of it with a clean sponge. Wipe the entire surface with it and remove the excess oil.
  • Oil does not ensure a nice surface, but also a beading effect. The water does not collect on the surface as quickly and there are no annoying limescale stains.
