Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 800 g tomatoes, chopped from the can
  • 3 onions
  • 5 cloves garlic, less if desired
  • 1 apple
  • 1 tbsp, heaped oregano, dried
  • 2 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
  • Salt and pepper, freshly ground

Instructions

Working time approx. 15 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 20 minutes; Total time approx. 35 minutes

the way I like them

Peel and finely dice the onions and garlic. Wash the apple and coarsely grate it, peeling and cored. Heat the olive oil in a saucepan and sauté the onion and garlic. After about 3 minutes, add the grated apple and sauté for another 2 minutes. Reduce heat to medium. Then add the tomatoes, a pinch of salt, and oregano. Bring to a boil and simmer uncovered over low heat for about 12-15 minutes. Season with salt and pepper. Serve with spiral pasta.
