Descaling the egg cooker can be done with home remedies
You do not need any expensive means for descaling. Citric acid or vinegar will help you here. Clean the device as soon as limescale deposits become visible. If the deposits are too strong, this not only shortens the service life, but the device switches off too early and your egg is not cooked as desired.
- Citric Acid: Mix citric acid with water according to the manufacturer’s instructions. Pour the mixture into the water bowl and heat it up in the egg cooker. Then let everything work for a few minutes. Dispose of the citric acid and wipe thoroughly with a damp cloth.
- Vinegar: For descaling, add white vinegar to the water bowl of the egg cooker so that all areas are covered with scale. It is best to leave the vinegar on overnight, throw it away the next day, and wipe the bowl with a damp cloth.
- Vinegar essence: Vinegar essence is a good choice for particularly stubborn deposits. Mix in a 1:3 ratio (one part essence to three parts water). Then proceed as you would when using pure vinegar.
More cleaning tips
You should pay attention to a few points so that your device is not damaged.
- The coating of the water bowl is delicate. Therefore, avoid using strongly scratching sponges or steel wool for cleaning.
- Also, do not use any abrasive cleaning agents.
- Wipe the water bowl with a damp cloth after each use. This not only removes any egg residue, but also the lime film.
