Dry the chili yourself in the oven – Here’s how

We explain how you can quickly and easily make dried chilies from fresh chilies and thus preserve them.

  • You start with fresh chili peppers, which you first wash and then drain.
  • Before the next step, you should put on plastic gloves to avoid getting some of the spicinesses of the chilies in your eyes later.
  • The stem of the chili peppers is removed with your hands or a knife and divided once lengthways. If you like the chili a little milder, you can also remove the seeds.
  • The chili halves are then placed on a baking tray lined with baking paper and dried at 100 degrees for about 3 hours.
  • When the chilies are done drying, you can crumble them with your fingers and place them in a jar for future seasoning.
  • Alternatively, you can also grind them into chili powder with a mortar.
