Ingredients
 

  • 500 g Flour
  • Flour for rolling
  • 1 packet Dry yeast
  • 2 Eggs
  • 125 g Sugar
  • 125 g Sultanas
  • 1 tsp Grated lemon peel
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • 75 g Margarine
  • 250 g Quark
  • 1 tbsp Milk
  • 1 tbsp Granulated sugar

Instructions
 

  • Mix the flour and yeast. Add the lemon zest, 1 egg, sugar and salt.
  • Let the margarine melt slowly in a saucepan. Add quark and 100 ml water and let it get lukewarm. Add to the flour and stir together with the sultanas using a dough hook to form a smooth dough. Cover and let rise for 60 minutes.
  • Knead the dough on a floured surface and roll out lightly. Divide into 3 parts and form 3 rolls.
  • Place the dough on a baking sheet lined with baking paper and braid it into a plait. Pinch the ends together. Let rest for 15 minutes.
  • Separate the second egg and mix the yolks with milk and brush the plait with it. Then sprinkle with crystal sugar and bake in the 180 degree oven for 30 minutes.
