  • If you don’t drink enough water, increased fiber intake can also lead to constipation. In order for the dietary fibers to be able to escape from the intestine without problems, they need a lot of liquid. If constipation occurs over a long period of time, it can even lead to intestinal blockage.

Fiber – that’s why you still need to eat it

Despite the deterrent consequences of increasing fiber intake, don’t be put off. More than half of all people do not reach the recommended amount of 30 grams of fiber per day. This can have far worse consequences than constipation or gas.

  • A balanced diet with fiber ensures that the risk of colon cancer is reduced. Cholesterol levels also drop over time. The risk of developing diabetes or cardiovascular disease is reduced.
