How High is the Estrogen Content of Goat Milk?

Is there less estrogen in goat’s milk compared to cow’s milk? After breast cancer (hormone dependent) do I want to avoid estrogens?

Unfortunately, we have no data on the estrogen content of goat milk.

You could ask the Association of Sheep and Goat Milk Producers or possibly the Bavarian Association of Goat Breeders whether analyzes are available on this.

With cow’s milk, the estrogen content in the milk varies depending on the gestation phase of the dairy cow.

Compared to the body’s own hormone synthesis in humans, the levels of estrogen and progesterone in milk are very low. On average, one kilogram of whole milk contains about 0.13 µg estrone, 0.02 µg estradiol and 10 µg progesterone. In women, the body’s own production can increase to up to 19,600 µg progesterone and up to 100 µg estrogen per day (!) during the course of the menstrual cycle. Estrogens from food are mostly broken down in the body. From a scientific point of view, there is no need for healthy people to do without milk because of the hormone content. If you already have cancer, we recommend that you discuss the question of milk consumption or milk renunciation with your doctor.

Acidified milk products, for example, have a positive effect on the intestinal flora and thus the immune system.
