Spread the love

Ingredients for 1 servings:

  • 450 g margarine
  • 50 g lard
  • 1 kg flour
  • 425 g sugar
  • 30 g anise
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 4 eggs

Instructions

Working time approx. 10 minutes; Rest time approx. 1 hour; Total time approx. 1 hour 10 minutes

according to great-grandma’s recipe

Melt the margarine and lard in a saucepan and let it cool, but do not allow it to solidify again. Combine the remaining ingredients, gradually adding the fat, and knead everything into a smooth dough. Let the finished dough rest in the refrigerator for 1-2 hours. Heat the waffle iron (it should be relatively hot) and form the dough into walnut-sized balls. Fry 5 at a time in the waffle iron until golden brown (since the batter is high in fat, some fat may leak out of the iron, so it is recommended to line the work surface thickly with newspaper or something similar). While the waffles are still hot, separate them with a knife and let them cool.
