Get a Tan: Four Tips For a Long-Lasting Summer Complexion

Skin as if kissed by the sun: Find out how to effectively preserve your beloved summer complexion – so that you look fresh from vacation for as long as possible!

Get a tan with moisture

Sunscreen is essential to tanning healthily, and hydration is essential to staying tanned for as long as possible.

Because: Your skin renews itself every 28 to 60 days. A process that sunbathers should slow down. The reason: During regeneration, the tissue loses the melanin in the top layer of skin – and you become pale again. What slows down this process? Quite simply: moisture. Well-nourished skin renews itself more slowly.

Moisture is everything

Active ingredients such as hyaluronic acid, aloe vera, urea, vegetable oils, shea butter, glycerin, and dexpanthenol moisturize the tissue and ensure a long-lasting tan. So be sure to invest in body milk, lotion or butter with these ingredients and now also use richer products for facial care.

By the way: your tan also gets moisture from the inside. Adequate hydration is a must to preserve your summer complexion. Ideal: At least 1.5 liters of water a day.

Protect your skin and only shower or bathe in lukewarm

Heat destroys the skin’s own lipid layer and causes the skin to dry out more quickly. So hot showers and baths are poison for your tan. Instead, use lukewarm water in combination with moisturizing, pH-neutral shower gels, or bath additives.

Get a tan by not using fruit acids and retinol

Fruit acids and retinol ensure a youthful, radiant complexion. But: These active ingredients achieve this effect by accelerating the skin’s regeneration process – unfavorable for tanned tissue. If you want to get your “summer glow”, it’s better to avoid these ingredients for a few weeks.

Helping out allowed with self-tanners

Tanning creams or sprays will help you prolong your tan for a few weeks. The highlight: Use the product of your choice when the skin is still crispy brown. The transition from the natural to the “retouched” tan is seamless and discreet. Important: Mix just a few drops of self-tanner into your regular moisturizer at first and gradually increase the dose.
