Spread the love

Ingredients for 1 servings:

  • 3 cups olive oil
  • 1 cup(s) butter
  • 2 cups of beer
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1 tsp clove powder
  • Orange zest
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 2 kg flour
  • 1 tbsp, leveled baking soda
  • 1 tbsp, leveled baking powder
  • 2 tsp salt
  • 500 g walnuts, chopped
  • 3 cups sugar
  • 3 cups honey
  • 2 cups water

Instructions

Working time approx. 30 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 30 minutes; Total time approx. 1 hour

Melomakarona, enough for about 40 cookies

For the dough, place the first 6 ingredients in a bowl and mix well. Mix a little flour with the baking soda, baking powder, and salt. Add to the oil mixture and stir. Then add the remaining flour and mix well until the dough becomes firm. Take a little dough, flatten it in the palm of your hand, and add some chopped walnuts. Then seal it so that the walnuts are not visible and the dough takes on an oval shape. Place on a prepared baking sheet. Bake in a hot oven at 180°C (top/bottom heat) for about 30 minutes. Let cool slightly. For the syrup, bring the sugar, honey, and water to a boil in a saucepan. Place all the cookies on a baking sheet and pour the hot syrup on top. Sprinkle the remaining walnuts on top. Let stand and cool. Tip: It’s best to use cups with the same capacity for the quantities.
