How to grow your own fenugreek sprouts
Fenugreek is a true all-rounder: As a spice, it gives food a nutty note, it smells of fresh hay and the nutrient-rich leaves and sprouts of the plant can also be eaten. Pulling the rungs is simple:
- You will need: Fenugreek seeds (capable of germinating), water, bowl, germination tray
- Fill the bowl with 300 to 500 ml of water.
- Put about 3 tablespoons of the fenugreek in the bowl and let it soak overnight.
- Place the soaked kernels in a germination bowl and place them in a bright place. Rinse them with fresh water at least twice a day.
- The sprouts will germinate after a day or two.
More tips
The small vitamin and nutrient bombs are not particularly demanding: light, air, and water are enough for them to grow. Nevertheless, there is still one other piece of advice to consider:
- Choose an appropriate bowl for soaking. It should be large enough that the bottom is just covered by the seeds.
- A bright place is ideal for the growth of the sprouts, but without direct sunlight.
- As an alternative to a germination bowl, you can make a germination container yourself with a mason jar and fleece or gauze.
