Hot cherries with red wine syrup

Ingredients for 1 servings:

  • 1 kg sour cherries, pitted, approx.
  • 100 g sugar
  • 250 ml red wine
  • 350 g sugar
  • 2 tsp, heaped vanilla powder (e.g. Vanila)
  • ½ tsp cinnamon
  • ½ tsp clove powder
  • some allspice
  • some cardamom

Instructions

Working time approx. 30 minutes; Total time approx. 30 minutes

Dessert sauce for vanilla ice cream

Place the sour cherries in a large saucepan and sprinkle with 100g of sugar. Cover the pan and let it steep. Meanwhile, heat the red wine and add 350g of sugar. Bring to a boil and simmer for 10-15 minutes. The syrup should be thicker. Heat the cherries. As soon as it starts to bubble gently, add the red wine syrup and stir well. Bring to a boil with the spices, then pour into hot jars and seal. This is easy to prepare and preserve. Makes 4 jars.
