Hungarian Cubes with Spiced Almond Batter

Shortcrust
- 200 g Butter
- 300 g Flour smooth
- 100 g Icing sugar
- 1 Egg yolk
- 1 pinch Salt
Spiced almond batter
- 150 g Almonds whole
- 150 g Grated almonds
- 220 g Icing sugar
- 60 g Flour smooth
- 4 Egg yolk
- 50 ml Rum
- 1 kl. tsp Cinnamon
- 1 pinch Nutmeg
- 3 Pc. Cloves
- 1 teaspoon Icing sugar
anything else
- 150 g Currant jelly
First prepare the shortcrust pastry
- Quickly knead the butter, cut into small pieces, together with sugar, salt, flour and yolk to a fine shortcrust pastry – wrap the dough in cling film and let it rest in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes (preferably longer)

- First prepare the CLOVES SUGAR: Finely pestle 3 cloves together with 1 teaspoon of sugar (if you don’t have a mortar or cloves, take a small pinch of ground clove powder) – coarsely chop the whole almonds – prepare a suitable frying pan approx. 20 x 30 cm and the Record the exact dimensions of the bottom surface of this frying pan on a piece of baking paper
Prepare the almond spice batter
- Mix the grated almonds with the coarsely chopped almonds, icing sugar, flour, egg yolk, cinnamon, clove sugar, nutmeg and the rum and then knead into a compact mass

- Bake in an oven preheated to 180 degrees O / U heat for about 45 minutes – IMPORTANT: LET COOL DOWN VERY WtbspL before you cut the cubes about 3 x 3 cm! if you have an electric knife, you should use it to get clean interfaces
