Indian rice dish with lentils

Ingredients for 2 servings:

  • 60 g rice (parboiled rice)
  • 60 g lentils, red
  • 2 m.-sized carrot(s)
  • 1 bunch of spring onions
  • 150 g yogurt
  • 1 ½ tsp chili powder
  • 2 tsp curry powder
  • ½ tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp paprika powder
  • 1 tsp salt
  • some pepper, finely ground
  • 250 ml water, boiling

Instructions

Working time approx. 10 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 20 minutes; Total time approx. 30 minutes

Slice the spring onions into rings. Peel and grate or finely dice the carrots. Weigh the rice and lentils into a bowl and add the spices. Heat a little oil in a pan and sauté the carrots and spring onions for a few minutes. Then add the rice, lentils, and spices. Pour boiling water over everything, mix thoroughly, and simmer for about 10-15 minutes, until the rice and lentils are tender. Once the water has evaporated, stir in the yogurt and let it sit for a moment.
