Spread the love

Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 10 Vienna sausages
  • 2 rolls of pizza dough

Instructions

Working time approx. 20 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 15 minutes; Total time approx. 35 minutes

Or a tornado hot dog. Instead of a sausage in a bun, try a bun in a sausage.

You will also need 20 shish kebab skewers. Preheat the oven to 180°C. Halve the sausages and place one half on each shish kebab skewer. Cut each sausage half diagonally at one end and then continue cutting in a spiral pattern to the other end. This creates a sort of “garland,” which is then pulled apart slightly, creating a gap, so that the half sausage now almost covers the entire shish kebab skewer. Roll out the pizza dough and cut into as many equally thin strips as there are sausage halves. Shape the strips into rolls. Carefully press the dough rolls into the resulting spaces between the sausages. To prevent the dough from coming loose, it must be pressed firmly, especially at the ends, despite being careful. Place the sausages on a baking sheet lined with baking paper and bake in the oven for about 15 minutes. Then garnish the hot dogs with mustard, ketchup, mayonnaise, or another sauce of your choice. As a variation, you can season the pizza dough as desired.
