Ingredients for 1 servings:
- 250 g flour (also tastes good with a portion or pure wholemeal, spelt or rye flour)
- 125 ml milk, low-fat
- 30 g butter
- 50 g honey
- 1 egg(s)
- some vanilla
- ¼ tsp salt
- ½ cube of yeast or
- 1 packet of dry yeast
- some milk or egg for brushing
- some granulated sugar
Instructions
Working time approx. 30 minutes; Rest time approx. 2 days 2 hours; Total time approx. 2 days 2 hours 30 minutes
A yeast plait, sweetened only with honey
Mix the yeast with vanilla and salt and add the warmed milk. Add the honey and stir in the butter and egg. Finally, add the flour to the bowl and knead into a smooth yeast dough. Let it rise for about 1 hour; it should have roughly doubled in size. Preheat the oven to 200°C (top/bottom heat). Divide the dough 2:1 and divide each into 3 portions. Roll each portion into a small and a larger plait. Place the smaller plait on top of the larger one and brush the entire thing with milk or egg. Sprinkle with sugar and bake for 20-25 minutes.
