Turkish sweet pastries, makes about 35 pieces

1 glass is equivalent to 250 ml. Bring 2.5 glasses of water to a boil in a saucepan with 2.5 glasses of sugar and simmer gently for 10-15 minutes. Then stir in the juice of half a lemon and let the syrup cool. Knead 250 g of margarine with 3 glasses of flour in a bowl, add the yogurt, oil, egg and baking powder and knead into a smooth dough. Cover the dough with a cloth and let it rest for 10 minutes. Then take walnut-sized pieces of dough and flatten them in your hand. Place a tablespoon of the roughly chopped walnuts in the center of each piece, fold the dough together and use a fork to create a diamond pattern. Gradually place the pastries in a large, greased dish. Bake at 180°C (top and bottom heat) until golden brown. Then remove from the oven and immediately pour the cold syrup over the pastries.
