Ingredients for 1 servings:

  • 8 tbsp chili flakes
  • 2 tbsp Szechuan pepper
  • 2 tbsp black sesame seeds
  • 2 tbsp white sesame seeds
  • 2 tbsp garlic, ground
  • 1 tbsp spice mix
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp rice wine vinegar
  • 1 tbsp sesame oil
  • 1 tsp agave syrup
  • 1 tbsp spice mix
  • 4 tbsp rice wine vinegar
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp agave syrup

For the spice mix, finely grind the Szechuan peppercorns along with the chili flakes. Stir in the sesame seeds and ground garlic, and transfer the mixture to an airtight jar. To use as a marinade: Mix 1 tablespoon of the spice mix with soy sauce, rice wine vinegar, sesame oil, and agave syrup to form a thick marinade. Pour the marinade over fried food or marinate the food overnight. To use as a dip: Mix 1 tablespoon of the spice mix with rice wine vinegar, soy sauce, and agave syrup to form a liquid dip. This dip is perfect with Asian dumplings or Asian pancakes.
