Macaroni casserole with tomatoes and meatballs

Ingredients for 6 servings:

  • 400 g pasta (macaroni)
  • 500 g minced beef
  • 50 g ham, diced, raw
  • 1 roll, old
  • 1 egg(s)
  • 1 onion(s)
  • 1 clove(s) garlic
  • Salt and pepper, some olive oil

  • 1 can of tomatoes (approx. 400 g)

  • oregano
  • 250 g mozzarella, diced
  • basil
  • 50 g Parmesan, grated
  • 30 g butter

Instructions

Working time approx. 30 minutes; Total time approx. 30 minutes

Break the pasta into approximately 5 cm long pieces and cook until al dente. Knead the minced meat, ham, soaked and squeezed bread roll, egg, finely chopped onion and garlic clove, salt, and pepper into a dough. Form into balls and brown in hot oil. For the tomato sauce, sauté the finely chopped onion in a little oil until translucent. Add the tomatoes with their liquid, season with salt, pepper, oregano, and basil. Let everything simmer for about 15 minutes. Grease an ovenproof dish and alternately add the drained pasta, cheese cubes, meatballs, basil, and tomato sauce. Sprinkle the casserole with Parmesan cheese and dot with butter. Bake in the oven at 200°C for about 45 minutes.
