You need this to make chewing gum
The main ingredient chicle is relatively difficult to obtain. You can order a box with all the ingredients you need online.
- 60g chicle
- Natural flavors to taste
- 18 g glycerin (from the pharmacy or the Internet)
- ½ tsp citric acid
- 70 g sifted powdered sugar
- 10 g glucose syrup (from the pharmacy or the Internet)
Make chewing gum yourself – step by step
After you have gathered all the ingredients, you can start making chewing gum.
- Put the chewing gum base Chicle with the glucose syrup, the citric acid, and the aroma in the microwave at approx. 1,000 watts.
- If you don’t have a microwave, you can heat the ingredients over a hot water bath.
- After about 30 seconds, stir the mixture and heat for another 30 seconds until the raw mixture has completely melted.
- Now stir in the glycerin well.
- Then knead the mass with the sifted powdered sugar until all the sugar is well incorporated. The use of disposable gloves is a good idea here because the whole thing starts to stick.
- To reduce the sugar content, you can also replace the powdered sugar with xylitol or stevia.
- Now you can roll out the chewing gum. Then cut it into strips or shape it into balls.
- The processing should be done quickly because once the chewing gum cools, you won’t be able to shape it as well.
