Gingerbread tastes good, especially if you make the gingerbread spice yourself. This is also great as a gift because DIY gifts are trendy. Find out what you need for your individual gingerbread spice.
Make gingerbread spice yourself – recipe
You don’t like the taste of ready-made gingerbread spices? Then simply put together the spice for your gingerbread yourself. What you need for this:
- 35g cinnamon or a cinnamon stick, 9g cloves, 2g each of coriander, allspice, ginger, cardamom, and nutmeg or mace
- If you bought cinnamon sticks and ginger root or the spices in non-powder form, you must first chop them up before you weigh them.
- Weigh each ingredient after chopping it up.
- Mix the ingredients well together and then fill the spice into a small screw-top jar.
- The spice is enough for about 1.5 kg of gingerbread dough. You can also use the spice to refine desserts, cakes, or hot drinks.
- If you would like to create a particularly individual spice, you can also experiment with the number of individual ingredients and try out new combinations.
Gingerbread Spice Uses
Although the spice is actually intended for your gingerbread, you can use it in a variety of ways.
- Make yourself a latte with gingerbread aroma. To do this, froth milk and add it to the coffee. To finish, sprinkle some gingerbread spice on top of the foam. You can also add half a teaspoon of the spice to the coffee powder in the coffee filter. This makes the taste more intense.
- Alternatively, you can also refine desserts with spice. Especially in the wintertime, this puts you in the right mood for the Advent season. For example, you can make spicy variants of tiramisu, parfait, or cakes.
