  • First, you need 34 grams of magnesium chloride.

How to make magnesium oil yourself

You can make your own magnesium oil yourself in just a few minutes.

  • Warm the water to around 35 degrees.
  • Then stir in the magnesium chloride until it has completely dissolved.
  • The solution is now ready and can be filled. It is most convenient to use with a glass spray bottle. Of course, you can also use another glass bottle for storage – it should only be sealable.

Magnesium oil – advantages over drugs

  • As you can already see from the list of ingredients, magnesium oil is not really an oil, but rather a brine. However, since the solution feels a bit oily, it is called an oil.
  • Although magnesium oil is also suitable for oral consumption, it should mainly be used externally.
  • By using it externally, you avoid the unwanted side effects that an oral magnesium supplement brings with it: diarrhea symptoms. In addition, the oil has a local effect, especially in the case of tension or cramps.
  • Magnesium absorption through the skin is even higher than through the gastrointestinal tract. While about 30 to 50 percent of the magnesium is utilized with oral intake, the value with external use is 100 percent: the magnesium is completely absorbed by the skin and from there it enters the bloodstream.
  • One gram of magnesium chloride contains 120 milligrams of pure magnesium. 10 milliliters of brine, therefore, contain 40.8 milligrams of pure magnesium.
  • The body needs an average of 6 to 8 milligrams of magnesium per kilogram of body weight and per day. Part of the required amount is covered by food intake.

How to use magnesium oil

  • In case of tension and cramps, put some magnesium oil on the spot and massage it in.
  • To raise your magnesium level, you can spray yourself with brine after showering. However, you should do this before applying skin care products.
  • After the brine dries, fine crystals may remain on the skin. Depending on the skin type and sensitivity, the skin may be slightly itchy. In this case, simply wash the crystals off with water.
  • If you know you can’t tolerate the crystals, simply spray in about 20 minutes before showering. That’s how long it takes for the skin to absorb the magnesium.
  • A footbath with magnesium oil has a beneficial effect and you absorb a lot of magnesium particularly quickly. To optimize absorption, the temperature should not be higher than the body temperature.

When should you not use magnesium oil?

  • An overdose of magnesium is hardly possible in healthy people since excess magnesium is excreted.
  • Excretion takes place via the kidneys. Therefore, people with kidney disease should be careful with the intake of magnesium and consult their doctor.
  • This applies to people with a low heart rate. If you already have a low heart rate, magnesium should only be used cautiously and after consulting your doctor.
