DIY Tofu: A Guide

Once you have the ingredients and supplies, you can get started and make your own tofu.

  1. First, add the salt and apple cider vinegar to the jar.
  2. Then add the soy milk and stir thoroughly. In order for the milk to curdle, the vinegar must be well distributed.
  3. Now let the mixture stand for about 20 minutes until the egg white and whey have completely separated.
  4. Tip: If you use warm soy milk, it goes faster.
  5. Place the straining cloth in the strainer and pour in the curdled milk. Tie the cloth together and squeeze out the contents as best as you can. Tip: Place the bag on a plate and use a heavy book.
  6. After about half an hour under the “book press,” the tofu should be sufficiently pressed.
  7. Your homemade tofu is ready and you can prepare it right away. If you want to keep it for a while, put it in a sealable glass with salt water.
