Make Water Ice Yourself – The Best Tips

Healthy water ice in the DIY process – that’s how it works

In contrast to other types of ice cream, water ice has a negligibly small fat content, but there are large amounts of sugar in commercially available products. If you make the popsicle yourself, you can make a much healthier product.

  • To make the ice cream yourself, you only need a few ingredients. The tastiest version consists of lots of fruit. To do this, puree fruits such as strawberries, kiwis, blackberries, cherries, currants, oranges, blueberries, peaches, gooseberries, or bananas. Creative mixtures of two or more fruits are often very popular. Depending on your taste, refine the fruit puree with a little honey or sugar.
  • If you don’t have fresh fruit on hand, use fruit juice such as orange or cherry juice instead. If you only have a rather tart fruit juice on hand, sweeten it a little before it goes into the freezer.
  • Water ice can also be made from cola or lemonade. In particular, the cola water ice is mostly popular with children. However, since this is not the healthiest type of ice cream, cola ice cream should only be available on special occasions.
  • The savory version of the ice cream is also available for adults. You can easily make the ice cream from vegetables such as tomatoes or vegetable juices, which you can season accordingly.
  • Whether sweet, savory, or rather unhealthy, the preparation of the ice cream is the same in all cases. You fill the prepared mass in smaller ice cream molds and put them in the freezer. As a rule, the water ice is ready after four to five hours.
  • Alternatively, use yogurt cups as ice molds. After placing the future ice cream in the yogurt cup, close the cup with aluminum foil. Make a small, long cut in the middle and insert a wooden stick that will later serve as a popsicle stick. You can also use small plastic spoons instead of wooden sticks.
  • Tip: If the ice cream is difficult to remove from the cup or ice cream mold, briefly hold the ice cream mold under hot water.
