Make Your Own Mulled Wine Spice Mix – That’s How it Works

Spread the love

You don’t always have to go to a Christmas market to drink a good mulled wine. In this article, we will show you how you can easily make your own spice mixture.

The ingredients for a mulled wine spice mixture

The following spice mixture has a shelf life of about two weeks. Also wrapped as a gift, it makes a good souvenir for invitations. For one liter of red wine you need the following ingredients:

  • An empty jam jar or screw-top jar
  • 3 tablespoons rock candy (brown sugar is best here)
  • Three stars of star anise, 1 tsp cloves, 1 tsp cardamom, and two sticks of cinnamon.
  • The dried peel of half an orange. Alternatively, fresh orange slices are fine if you don’t want the spice mix to keep longer.

The preparation of the spice mixture

In principle, the order in which you fill the glass is not important. Due to the order mentioned, however, the mixture also fits into a smaller filling glass.

  • Pour the rock candy into the empty jam jar.
  • Then place the star anise on top of the sugar and add the remaining ingredients over it.
  • Screw the glass well. This ensures that no moisture gets inside.
  • If you like, you can attach a self-made label and a bow to the spice jar.
