Marinating Tempeh: How to make a sweet and sour marinade

For a sweet and sour tempeh marinade you need 2 tablespoons soy sauce, 1 tablespoon olive oil, 120 ml red wine vinegar, and 1 tablespoon maple syrup.

  1. First, mix all the ingredients together in a bowl.
  2. Place about 500 grams of tempeh in the marinade and let it steep to your liking.
  3. We recommend a marinade time of at least two hours. The tempeh tastes best after a whole night in the sweet and sour marinade.

Bacon flavored marinade

To make a bacon-flavored marinade, you need 1 tablespoon maple syrup, 1 tablespoon liquid smoke, 3 tablespoons soy sauce, 1 tablespoon tomato paste, and 1 tablespoon olive oil, 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar, 2 crushed garlic cloves, and 180 ml vegetable stock.

  • First, steam the tempeh in a saucepan with a little water and over low heat for 10 to 15 minutes.
  • To get a crispy taste experience, fry the tempeh in a pan for about 5 minutes.
  • While the tempeh is still in the pan, stir together the ingredients for the marinade and pour those into the pan as well.
  • Of course, you can also leave the tempeh in the marinade directly. To do this, place both in the pan and wait until the soy product has absorbed most of the marinade. Then fry the tempeh without additional oil.

Peanut and soy marinade for tempeh

You can make a delicious marinade for your tempeh using soy sauce and peanut sauce.

  • First, mix 2 tablespoons of soy sauce and 2 tablespoons of peanut sauce together in a bowl.
  • Then soak the tempeh in the marinade overnight and then fry it in a pan.
