Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 8 Maultaschen
  • 400 g cheese, grated
  • 1 cup of sweet cream
  • 1 tube(s) Tomato paste
  • salt and pepper
  • oregano

Instructions

Working time approx. 30 minutes; Total time approx. 30 minutes

Preheat oven to 180°C – 200°C. Cut the Maultaschen crosswise so that they remain the same size. Place each one with the dough side down on the bottom of the baking dish. Sprinkle with grated cheese. Place the next layer of Maultaschen and cheese on top and continue until all the Maultaschen are used up. Finish with the cheese as the last layer (but there should also be at least two layers of Maultaschen). Put the cream in a saucepan and heat. Stir in the tomato paste and season with the spices. Spread the sauce over the surface with a spoon. Place in the oven and bake for about 45 minutes. Tip: You can also replace the cream with milk and place vegetables of your choice (e.g. peas, pieces of bell pepper, etc.) between the Maultaschen layers.
