Ingredients for 4 servings:
- 1 kg potatoes, waxy
- 1 kg minced beef
- 3 large onions
- 1 large jar of sweet and sour pickled gherkins (cucumber sticks), approx. 670 g each
- 6 tbsp tomato ketchup
- Sunflower oil
- Ginger powder
- Cayenne pepper
- chili powder
- Paprika powder

Put the potatoes on the stovetop and cook. Add a little oil to a pot and heat. Add the spices, but don’t let them burn; they’ll become toxic. Decide on the amount by eye. Don’t use too much at first; season later. Add the chopped onions and fry until golden brown. Add the minced meat and fry until browned to your liking. Add the chopped cucumber sticks and the pickle juice from the jar—without any small pieces like mustard seeds, etc.—and a little water to the pot. Add enough ketchup until the desired red color is achieved. Let everything simmer for about 20-30 minutes, adding a little water if needed. Don’t add too much water, as no thickener is used. Drain the potatoes and serve with the minced meat sauce.
