muesli bars

Spread the love

Ingredients for 1 servings:

  • 180 g oat flakes, fine
  • 2 tbsp almonds, ground
  • 1 pinch of salt
  • 1 tsp sesame seeds
  • 140g chocolate or dried fruit, additional seeds, nuts, desiccated coconut, vanilla, cinnamon etc.
  • 4 tbsp vegetable oil or coconut oil
  • 3 tbsp honey
  • 2 egg whites
  • possibly cocoa

Instructions

Working time approx. 15 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 20 minutes; Total time approx. 35 minutes

for a casserole dish, makes approx. 12 bars

Mix the oats, almonds, salt, and sesame seeds well in a bowl. Chop the additional ingredients such as chocolate, nuts, and dried fruit as finely as possible, otherwise the granola bars will fall apart. Then add them to the oat mixture. Gently heat the oil with the honey in a small saucepan and add to the oat mixture. Mix everything well. Whisk the egg whites slightly and add to the oat mixture. Line a square dish with baking paper and pour the mixture into the dish. Spread it evenly and press down firmly. Bake at 180°C (top/bottom heat) for about 20 minutes on the middle rack. Remove the mixture from the dish with the baking paper and let cool. Then cut into bars and, if desired, decorate with some melted chocolate and nuts. The granola bars will keep for about 2 weeks if kept airtight and refrigerated. To store in a tin, it’s best to place a layer of baking paper between each stack of granola bars.
