Nut Roll My Mother’s Style
The perfect nut roll my mother’s style recipe with a picture and simple step-by-step instructions.
Dough for a nut roll:
- 1 Egg
- 2 teaspoon Baking powder
- 300 g Flour
- 1 packet Vanilla sugar
- 100 g Sugar
- 125 g Butter
- Some Milk
- 1 pinch Salt
For the nut filling:
- 250 g Ground hazelnuts
- 100 g Sugar
- 1 Protein
- 1 shot Almond flavor
- 1 tbsp Water
Aside from that:
- 1 Egg yolk
- 1 Cream
- Knead all the dough ingredients. Roll out the dough and shape it into a rectangle. Mix ground hazelnuts, 100 g sugar, an egg white, almond flavor and possibly 1-2 tbsp water together and spread over the dough. Then roll it up. Mix the egg yolk with a dash of cream and brush over it with a brush (or with your hand). Bake in the preheated oven on the middle rack at 175-180 degrees for about 40 minutes. Let cool down and enjoy with a cup of coffee and some whipped cream.
