Ingredients for 8 servings:
- 12 schnitzels (pork, turkey or lamb)
- 250 g grated cheese (Gouda, Emmental, or similar)
- 500 g mushrooms, sliced, fresh or from the can
- 5 large onions
- 3 cups of sweet cream
- 2 cups sour cream
- 2 packs of sauce powder for hunter’s sauce
- salt and pepper
- curry
- Butter for the mold
Instructions
Working time approx. 30 minutes; Rest period approx. 1 day; Total time approx. 1 day 30 minutes
Season the meat well and place it side by side in a buttered casserole dish or goose roasting pan, cover with the cheese, and scatter the mushrooms on top. Dice the onions and fry them. Stir in the cream, sour cream, and hunter’s sauce and pour over the meat, cheese, and mushrooms. Dust with curry powder, cover, and let rest in a cool place for 24 hours. On the day of the invitation, cook uncovered in a preheated oven at 200°C (top/bottom heat) for 90 minutes. Serve with spaetzle or noodles and a green or mixed salad. Please use a spatula or similar to remove the schnitzel, as the meat will be very tender and tender! This dish should be prepared at least 24 hours in advance and then simply pop it in the oven. This makes it ideal for a large group of guests! It also tastes great with the whole family!
