Peanut soup of the Incas

Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 250 g peanuts, finely chopped or
  • 250 g peanut butter, with whole peanut pieces
  • ½ liter chicken broth
  • ½ liter milk or cream
  • Salt and pepper, freshly ground
  • 2 tsp chives, in rolls

Instructions

Working time approx. 10 minutes; Total time approx. 10 minutes

Peanuts were discovered by the Incas. They not only ate them, but also placed them in the tombs of their dead and depicted them as decorative motifs on pots. Peanuts came to Europe through the Spanish conquerors. Place the peanuts, broth, and milk in a heavy pot. Boil over medium heat for 5 minutes, stirring frequently. Simmer gently for another 10 minutes, stirring occasionally. Season with salt and pepper and sprinkle with chives.
