Prepare tempeh – that’s how it works
In order to enjoy tempeh, you must first prepare it. We show you a simple variant for this in the following:
- First, put water in a saucepan and bring it to a boil.
- Meanwhile, slice the tempeh. So that it does not dry out, these should be about 1 centimeter wide.
- Once the water is boiling, place a steamer basket in the saucepan. Then place the tempeh slices on top and steam for 10 to 15 minutes.
- Find a variant that you want to use to marinate your tempeh. Then put the finished tempeh in a bowl along with your chosen marinade. Make sure each slice is well covered.
- So that the tempeh can absorb the marinade well, leave it in the fridge for about two hours. Cover the bowl with some cling film or a silicone lid.
- Finally, fry the marinated tempeh in a pan with a little oil.
- If you want crispy pieces of tempeh, for example as an ingredient in a sauce, proceed differently: instead of steaming the tempeh, fry or deep-fry the slices directly in plenty of oil.
