Prepare tempeh – that’s how it works

In order to enjoy tempeh, you must first prepare it. We show you a simple variant for this in the following:

  1. First, put water in a saucepan and bring it to a boil.
  2. Meanwhile, slice the tempeh. So that it does not dry out, these should be about 1 centimeter wide.
  3. Once the water is boiling, place a steamer basket in the saucepan. Then place the tempeh slices on top and steam for 10 to 15 minutes.
  4. Find a variant that you want to use to marinate your tempeh. Then put the finished tempeh in a bowl along with your chosen marinade. Make sure each slice is well covered.
  5. So that the tempeh can absorb the marinade well, leave it in the fridge for about two hours. Cover the bowl with some cling film or a silicone lid.
  6. Finally, fry the marinated tempeh in a pan with a little oil.
  7. If you want crispy pieces of tempeh, for example as an ingredient in a sauce, proceed differently: instead of steaming the tempeh, fry or deep-fry the slices directly in plenty of oil.
