quick to make, finger food for parties or with soup
Slice the lighter parts of the spring onions into thin rings. Halve thicker stalks lengthwise. Beat the egg yolk with water until smooth. Preheat the oven to 190°C (top/bottom heat). Roll out the puff pastry. Spread the cream cheese on the bottom half of the long side and arrange the ham cubes and spring onion rings on top. Fold the top half of the puff pastry over the filled part and press down. Cut the pastry into approximately 20 strips, roll the strips up, and place them on a baking sheet lined with baking paper. Brush with egg yolk and sprinkle with poppy seeds. Bake for approximately 20-25 minutes, depending on the oven, until golden brown. The stalks are perfect as a side dish to soup or salad, or as finger food for parties with wine and beer.
