Ingredients for 4 servings:
- 3 cups rice
- 1 cup(s) water, maybe a little more
- ½ tsp salt
- 1 handful of peanuts or pistachios
- 1 handful of dates (approx. 10 to 12 fruits)
- 1 handful of raisins
- butter

Typical for Israel
Lightly salt the rice, cook until half cooked, and then keep warm. Roughly chop the nuts, pit the dates, and also roughly chop them. Roast the nuts in butter until golden brown, then add the raisins and dates. Sauté together for 2 to 3 minutes. Pour in the water and simmer for about 5 minutes, stirring frequently. Melt a little butter in a baking dish and spread half of the rice on the bottom. Spread the fruit on top and cover with rice again. Finally, add the remaining fruit to the rice and finish with knobs of butter. Cover the dish with a lid or aluminum foil. Let it soak in the preheated oven at 160°C for about 30 minutes.
