Roasted peanuts

Spread the love

Ingredients for 1 servings:

  • 200 g peanuts, unsalted
  • 50 g water
  • 100 g sugar
  • 1 tsp, leveled cinnamon or gingerbread spice
  • 1 pinch of salt
  • some food coloring, red, optional

Instructions

Working time approx. 3 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 15 minutes; Total time approx. 18 minutes

Mix the sugar, cinnamon or gingerbread spice, and salt in a bowl. If desired, mix the water with the food coloring, then bring to a boil with the sugar mixture in a pan and simmer briefly. Add the nuts and simmer, stirring constantly, until the nuts are glazed and the sugar coats the nuts, just before the sugar caramelizes. Continue stirring until the nuts are cool to prevent them from sticking together. You can increase the amount of sugar to taste. 2 parts nuts to 1 part sugar is my recommendation, or 1:1 if you want the nuts sweeter.
