Instructions
Working time approx. 40 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 45 minutes; Total time approx. 1 hour 25 minutes
Dough: Mix the flour, cocoa powder, and baking powder and sift it into a mixing bowl. Add the sugar, vanilla sugar, eggs, and butter. Using a hand mixer (dough hook), mix the ingredients thoroughly for a short time on the lowest setting, then on the highest setting. Then knead the dough briefly on a lightly floured surface. Roll out two-thirds of the dough onto a baking sheet. Place a baking frame around it. This only applies to regular baking sheets. For baking pans (tall baking sheets), no baking frame is required. Filling: Melt the butter and let it cool (works great in the microwave). In a bowl, mix the quark with the sugar, vanilla sugar, pudding powder, and eggs using a hand mixer fitted with a whisk. Stir in the melted butter or margarine. Mix everything until smooth, then spread it over the dough and smooth it down. Tear the remaining dough into small pieces and place it over the filling. For a child’s birthday party or as needed, you can also create wonderful things with cookie cutters, for example, the characters from “Die Sendung mit der Maus” (The Show with the Mouse) or any other characters the child desires. Preheat the oven to 180°C (top and bottom heat) and bake the cake in the center of the oven for about 45 minutes. A toothpick test is recommended, as ovens vary.
