Sauerbraten

Spread the love

Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 1 ½ kg meat (sauerbraten), marinated
  • 12 gingerbread (herb printen)
  • 1 liter malt beer

Instructions

Working time approx. 30 minutes; Total time approx. 30 minutes

Remove the sauerbraten from the marinade and sear it on all sides in a large roasting pan. Deglaze with 2 tablespoons of the marinade. Now add the first portion of malt beer, but not too much. Then let it simmer on the stovetop for about 30-60 minutes. Preheat the oven to 180 degrees fan-assisted. After this time, remove the roast from the pot and wrap it in aluminum foil. Place it on a plate or baking sheet in the oven for a good 2 hours. In the meantime, add the remaining malt beer to the roasting pan and crumble the gingerbread cookies into the pot. Be careful when adding the remaining marinade. Cook over low heat for the same amount of time as the roast in the oven. Carve the roast. Strain the sauce through a fine sieve.
