Sauerkraut with a twist

Spread the love

Ingredients for 2 servings:

  • 500 g sauerkraut
  • 3 tbsp oil for frying
  • 3 tbsp beet syrup (e.g. Grafschafter Goldsaft)
  • pepper
  • some water

Instructions

Working time approx. 10 minutes; Total time approx. 10 minutes

Sauerkraut from the pan

Heat oil in a pan (preferably nonstick). Add sauerkraut and cook for 10-20 minutes, depending on the cabbage and your taste. If the cabbage starts to brown too much, add a little water and let it simmer again. The cabbage shouldn’t actually brown, just cook. Shortly before the end of the cooking time, add the beet syrup and stir well (amount can vary according to taste). Season to taste with pepper. Serve hot.
