Sesame is not just a spice from 1001 Nights, but a seed for a delicious dressing. We have three light and easily digestible sesame dressing recipes ready for you, which completely do without the intensive tahini paste.
Dressing with black sesame
Little attention is paid to black sesame. However, the intensive aroma in dressing is particularly good for salads with lots of vegetables.
- Ingredients: 2 tablespoons black sesame (toasted), light mayonnaise, apple cider vinegar, sugar
- Now mix all the ingredients apart from the sesame in a bowl. You can vary the amount of mayonnaise and other ingredients as you like. Just don’t overdo it with apple cider vinegar.
- Before you add the dressing to the salad, the sesame is mixed in. This keeps it pleasantly crunchy when eaten.
Vegan salad dressing with lots of flavors
If you want to avoid animal products completely, we have a vegan recipe for you. This sesame dressing focuses on a particularly fruity aspect.
- Ingredients: 7 dates (pitted), 100 g sesame of your choice (roasted), another 2 tbsp sesame, 2 tbsp cashews, 2 tbsp mirin, 1 clove of garlic, 1 tbsp sesame oil, 250 ml water
- Wash the dates and place them in a saucepan or bowl. Pour hot water over it and leave for 10 minutes. Do not throw away the water after the soaking time.
- Place all the ingredients in a bowl except for the 2 tablespoons of sesame seeds and the soaking water. Now puree the ingredients well for about 5 minutes. A creamy sesame dressing should result.
- If the dressing is too thick for you, thin it with soaking water. Don’t use too much.
- Just before serving, stir the 2 tablespoons of sesame seeds into the dressing. Now it’s done and you can enjoy it.
Asian classic: Japanese dressing

- Put the sesame seeds in a mortar and crush them well with the pestle.
- Now mix mirin, soy sauce, and sugar in a bowl. Then add the ground sesame and sesame oil. Done and enjoy.
- The dressing will keep in the fridge for up to three weeks.
