Simple sausage salad according to grandma's recipe

Spread the love

Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 300 g lean sausage, e.g. hunting sausage
  • 3 gherkins
  • 1 m.-sized onion(s)
  • 2 tbsp sugar, maybe a little more
  • 2 tbsp sunflower oil or rapeseed oil
  • 2 tbsp ketchup
  • 3 tbsp mustard, medium hot
  • 2 tbsp mayonnaise
  • 1 pinch(s) salt
  • e.g. chili powder

Instructions

Working time approx. 15 minutes; Rest time approx. 6 hours; Total time approx. 6 hours 15 minutes

Dice the sausage. Finely dice the gherkins and onion. Add the remaining ingredients, mix well, and let the salad marinate for a few hours. You may want to add more seasoning later. The salad is very quick to prepare and always a hit. The sugar adds a savory flavor. Be careful with the chili powder. The spiciness varies greatly from manufacturer to manufacturer. For mild chili powder, I use more than 0.5 teaspoon per 300g of sausage, depending on the guest. For hot chili powder, a pinch is enough.
