Ingredients for 4 servings:
- 1 kg spare ribs or prime rib if you like more meat
- 75 ml applesauce or apple compote
- 1 tbsp Soy sauce, alternatively Worcestershire sauce
- 2 tbsp ketap manis
- 2 tsp Allspiceón de la Vera, preferably hot
- 1 tbsp five-spice powder
- n. B. Salt and pepper from the mill
- 2 tbsp brown sugar
Instructions
Working time approx. 10 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 7 hours; Total time approx. 7 hours 10 minutes
little effort for lots of taste
Rub the ribs well with salt and pepper and cut them into manageable pieces that are easy to chew and eat later. Mix all the other ingredients well and add them to the slow cooker along with the meat. Cook on “Low” for 7 to 8 hours, until the meat pulls away from the bone and almost falls off. This will make it “tender,” just like they love it in the USA. Serve the meat with sweetcorn, baked beans, and mashed potatoes. Instead of ribs, you can use prime rib. The taste is very similar, but you get more meat, and the bones are thicker. Whatever you like. If you’re with four big meat eaters, it’s best to double the amount of meat if you use baby back ribs, as the bone content is quite high. Nobody should go hungry.
