Som Tam: Narumol’s Papaya Salad

The perfect som tam: narumol’s papaya salad recipe with a picture and simple step-by-step instructions.

  • 500 g Papaya fresh
  • Cucumber
  • Carrot
  • Kohlrabi
  • Mango
  • 100 g Snake beans
  • 100 g Carrots
  • 100 g Tomatoes
  • 150 g Unsalted peanuts
  • 2 Pc. Chili
  • 2 Pc. Limes
  • 3 tbsp Fish sauce
  • 1 tbsp Tamarind juice
  • 1 tbsp Palm sugar or coconut sugar
  • 1 Glass Surimi
  1. Clean the vegetables and chilli and cut into strips, cut the beans into pieces approx. 3 cm long.
  2. Roast the unsalted peanuts in a pan and remove the shell. Crush chillies and roasted nuts in a mortar. Add the beans and tomatoes and mash them lightly.
  3. Then add sugar, tamarind and lime juice and fish sauce and stir everything carefully until the sugar has dissolved.
  4. Mix in the papaya and cucumber strips. Serve the salad with surimi – bon appetit!
