  • The more antioxidants your body gets, the less stress can harm your body as your cells are protected from destruction.
  • Thanks to the carotenoids in spinach, your eyes are protected from various diseases. This includes, for example, cataracts. In particular, the carotenoids lutein and zeaxanthin protect your eyes from damage caused by environmental influences such as exposure to the sun.
  • The nitrate contained in spinach lowers blood pressure. At the same time, it helps reduce heart disease and heart problems.
  • The leafy greens also contain anti-inflammatory substances such as the galactolipids MGDG and SQDG.
  • These substances are designed to stop cancer cells from growing. Likewise, the many antioxidants protect cells from cancer and can reduce the risk of breast and prostate cancer.
  • Despite the many good properties, you should not overeat spinach. Because spinach can cause kidney stones. This is due to the large amount of calcium contained in spinach. Calcium can build up in the body and lead to kidney stones.
