Ingredients for 10 servings:
- 300 ml water, lukewarm
- ½ cube of yeast
- 2 tsp salt
- 1 tsp sugar
- 500 g wheat flour type 405
- 40 g herb butter
- 250 g bacon cubes
Instructions
Working time approx. 5 minutes; Rest time approx. 1 hour; Cooking/baking time approx. 10 minutes; Total time approx. 1 hour 15 minutes
Pour the warm water into a mixing bowl and crumble in the yeast. Add the salt, sugar, flour, bacon cubes, and herb butter. Using a food processor or a mixer with a dough hook, knead everything into a smooth dough (in a Thermomix, knead all ingredients for 2 minutes on the kneading setting). Cover the dough and let it rise for about 1 hour. Form small rolls from the dough and wrap them spirally (not too thickly) around clean sticks. Hold the sticks over the fire bowl and bake the bread until crispy. If there are three of us, I only make 1/4 of the dough because we also grill meat and small sausages like Nuremberg Rostbratwürstl or Berner Würstl over the fire bowl.
