How to properly store fresh mushrooms
If you store mushrooms properly, you will benefit from them for longer. Proper storage is also important, otherwise, the mushrooms will develop poisonous aromas. You should therefore note that:
- Mushrooms should be kept in the refrigerator, preferably in the vegetable drawer. The mushrooms don’t like it when you squeeze them: This can cause mold to form more quickly. So make sure you have enough space.
- Mushrooms can also be stored in cold rooms or outside as long as the temperature is low. You should put them in an air-permeable container. Never use cling bags for this, otherwise, there is a risk of mold. This can make the mushrooms poisonous. Paper bags are best.
- Basically, it is best to consume mushrooms immediately after purchase. Properly stored, they will keep for up to four or five days. Only direct consumption applies to wild mushrooms.
- The easiest way to preserve mushrooms is to freeze the mushrooms. Alternatively, you can also dry the mushrooms.
